If you
are not sure you can find out more by joining the
Mid-Anglia Environment Health and Safety Group.
MESH aims to :
Provide an up to date source of information on the ever
changing health and safety scene
Provide and encourage a greater interest in health
and safety and also environmental issues
Encourage the exchange of knowledge and information
through discussion
Enable organisations to understand the importance and
value of principles of safety management
What happens in a MESH meeting?
A programme of topics is set for the year. Each month a
speaker comes in and
gives a presentation on the issue.
An open discussion forum follows at the end. Speakers
are
experts in their field and include inspectors from
the HSE and Health and Safety consultants.
Special events are also arranged such as mock trials and
site visits. Once a year a special
members day is arranged to allow the expertise of our members to be
shared with the group.
At each meeting updates are given on new and revised
legislation.
Local Health and Safety and Environmental
events are also publicised.
Members can request any subject for inclusion in the
programme.
When
does MESH meet?
Meetings are
held on the second Thursday of each month except August,
and alternate between Bury St Edmunds,
Thetford and Mildenhall. You are welcome to attend a meeting prior to
joining. Please phone or email for further details.
Are
there any other benefits for me?
MESH is an
ideal place to network and learn from other businesses
by sharing problems and expertise.
We currently have
around 100 members. MESH was established in 1996 and
provides a self-help mechanism
for member companies. Our
group is non-profit making and is run by an elected
committee. We are supported by the
Health and Safety
Executive and Local Authority Environmental Health
Officers. MESH is affiliated to RoSPA and Members of Safety
Groups
UK. We aim to keep the annual membership fee to a
minimum, to make the group accessible to all.
What does it cost?
£30 per annum
Who can
join?
Any type or
size of business or organisation can join. Members come
from the whole of East Anglia. Our
current membership
includes well known local businesses and organisations
from the self employed to the major employers.
Representatives don't have to be health and safety specialists to attend
meetings but everyone who attends would have some responsibility for, or
interest in, the Health and Safety or Environmental matters of their company.
Sectors represented include :
Manufacturing
Engineering
Retail
Agriculture
Construction
Legal
Catering
and many more
